Tickets for Status Quo - Pictures - 40 Years of Hits
Venue Cymru (formally - North Wales Theatre), Llandudno
Concert: Status Quo are one of the biggest rock bands the UK has ever produced. Founder members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt met at Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead over 30 years ago. Their first hit, Pictures Of Matchstick Men, was released in 1968, although it was a further seven years before they scored their first No 1 hit single with Down Down. The Quo continued to tour and release singles and albums with ever greater success, and then in 1985, whilst working on projects away from the band, Francis and Rick were reunited for the massive Live Aid concert at Wembley Stadium. They opened the day with Rocking All Over The World, aptly used by the BBC to publicise the event. They went on to release a re-recorded version of the song, Running All Over The World, for Sport Aid the following year. In 1991 they entered the Guinness Book Of Records for performing a national tour of the UK in under 12 hours! During the ‘Rock ‘Til You Drop challenge, the band were flown from Glasgow, to Sheffield and Birmingham, and ended at Wembley. After publishing their autobiography, releasing two ‘Greatest Hits albums, a live album, a covers album, producing a No 1 single for Manchester United (“Come On You Reds”) and completing numerous tours, you would expect the Quo to be taking a break… not so!
